Fact Check: Did Taylor Swift and fiance Travis Kelce announce pregnancy?
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Recent social media posts and online rumors have suggested that pop star Taylor Swift is pregnant with her first child with her fiance, NFL star Travis Kelce.
Swift and Kelce began dating in the summer of 2023, with their romance gaining public attention after Kelce mentioned her on his podcast. The couple later shared news of their engagement through a joint Instagram post featuring five photos, including Kelce proposing on one knee in his backyard garden.
Claim: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce confirmed their pregnancy
In December 2025, a rumor resurfaced claiming that pop icon Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce had publicly confirmed they were expecting a baby.
“BREAKING: BABY NO 1 ON THE WAY! Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce officially confirm they are expecting their first child!” a Facebook post stated. The posts included an image that appeared to show Swift and Kelce holding several ultrasound images.
One archived post received more than 22,000 reactions on Facebook. The rumor gained additional traction shortly after the couple’s engagement announcement on August 26, 2025.
Fact Check: False, no evidence to back the viral claim
Some viral posts, including altered images and AI-generated content, claim to show Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce holding ultrasound photos. However, there has been no official announcement from Swift, Kelce, or their representatives confirming a pregnancy.
Snopes, a reputable fact-checking organization, reviewed the claim and found that neither Swift nor Kelce has confirmed that they are expecting a child.
A Google search for the keywords “Taylor Swift Travis Kelce pregnancy announcement” primarily returned results related to the unfounded claim circulating on social media and did not produce reports from credible news outlets.
Instead, the rumor about Swift and Kelce’s alleged pregnancy announcement following their engagement originated from the Facebook account USA Pulse Today, a social media page that features numerous posts appearing to be AI-generated.
Some early posts from March 2025 contained a watermark in the lower-right corner indicating the image was created using Grok’s AI image-generation service. More recent versions of the claim removed the watermark. Neither Swift’s nor Kelce’s Instagram accounts displayed the image.
AI-detection software Hive determined that the image was 100% AI-generated. Additionally, the most recent image appeared noticeably blurred, and Swift’s hand looked unusually large, both common indicators of AI-generated imagery.
