Fact Check: Does new ABC polling show 92.5 per cent Republican approval for Trump?
WASHINGTON, DC: Amid the recent pressure and criticisms against President Donald Trump from GOP lawmakers, a rumor began circulating on social media platforms claiming that a new poll by ABC News shows that 92.5% Republican approval for the president, sparking speculations. Let us analyze the rumors and fact-check the poll’s authenticity.
Claim: ABC News shows 92.5 per cent Republican approval for Trump
According to a viral X post, which has garnered more than two hundred thousand views, a new ABC poll shows Republican approval of President Trump surging to 92.5 per cent.
The post was accompanied by a video of the president meeting his supporters and the military.
The post has triggered mixed reactions from online users, with many questioning the authenticity of the poll and dismissing it as fake, indicating skepticism, while others appeared to believe it to be authentic and endorsed the claim.
Fact Check: No such ABC poll exists
The claim, however, is false, as no such poll by ABC exists. A search on the outlet’s website for the claim yielded no credible reports that support the claim.
A report by the outlet published in early May states that Trump's approval rating has dipped to 37 per cent, the lowest of this presidential term, and his 62 per cent disapproval rating is a record high over both presidential terms.
The report also states that Trump's approval rating has ticked down slightly from 39 per cent in February to 37 per cent, and his disapproval has notched up slightly from 60 per cent to 62 per cent.
A Google search for the claim also did not yield any credible polls that show a high approval rating from the Republicans.
A fact check by Grok said, “No recent ABC poll shows Republican approval of Trump at 92.5 per cent. The latest ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll (April 24-28, 2026) found 85 per cent approval among Republicans (steady, not surging) and 37 per cent overall. The 92.5 per cent figure appears unsubstantiated or misattributed.”
Lindsey Graham skeptical of Donald Trump's Iran deal
Republican lawmakers are expressing varying degrees of skepticism toward Trump’s newly announced agreement with Iran, with several senators saying they need more information before deciding whether to support the framework.
Among the most prominent voices raising concerns is Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime Trump ally and one of Congress’s most outspoken foreign policy hawks, whose views on Iran have often shaped Republican debate on the issue.
“When it comes to Iran, I'm pretty skeptical, but you never know till you try, so it's worth a try,” Graham said.
