BALTIMORE COUNTY, MARYLAND: Angel Reese declared on Saturday, September 7, that she would miss the rest of the season due to a wrist injury.

Taking to Instagram, the Chicago Sky No 7 draft pick broke the heartbreaking news, "What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2."

She went on to say, "I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season-ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break."

'Angel Reese is pregnant' claim goes viral

Nevertheless, it wasn't long before social media was abuzz with rumors that Angel Reese was pregnant, suggesting the injury was merely a pretext.

On X, a "fan" wrote, "Angel Reese gotta be pregnant cause when tf did she get hurt."

Another interrupted, saying, "I think Angel Reese is pregnant " 

The individual even revealed their gender, writing, "BREAKING: Angel Reese, it’s a boy! Congratulations."

Another shared a GIF where a man, upon receiving news over the phone, begins jumping joyfully to express his happiness, "Me after finding out I got angel Reese pregnant"

Proof: Angel Reese is not pregnant

Despite rumors on social media, Angel Reese is not pregnant, as per Distractify. Shortly after the news of her season-ending injury, a few trolls took to social media to spread misinformation.

There is evidence that Reese is not pregnant. She has addressed the rumors herself, stating that her absence was due to a hiatus for mental health reasons and not pregnancy.

Reese has faced pregnancy rumors before as well. Earlier in the year, during her final year at LSU, she took a two-week hiatus to concentrate on her mental health, which didn't halt the speculation about a possible pregnancy.

Angel Reese's reasons for taking a break

In a recent podcast, she elaborated on the reasons for her break, providing more insight into her decision to temporarily leave the basketball court.

"I didn't feel like I was in a good mental space for my for my own team, for myself, and just being able to give my best self," Angel said on her podcast, Unapologetically Angel. "And I took time off ... and it wasn't because of everything else, it was me and Coach Mulkey being able to have that kind of relationship."

During her rookie season, at the time of her injury, Angel was averaging 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game.
