Fact Check: Is Trump taking Alzheimer’s medicine Leqembi?
WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump was recently seen fighting off sleep on Tuesday, December 2, during a Cabinet meeting at the White House, just hours after a late-night posting spree on Truth Social.
Following this, a rumor spread across social media claiming that the president is taking the Alzheimer’s medication Leqembi, suggesting that his drowsiness was a side effect of the d**g. But is there any truth to this? Let’s find out below.
Claim: Trump is taking Alzheimer’s medicine Leqembi
On Thursday, December 4, X user @johnbourscheid shared a post stating, "BREAKING: Donald Trump may be receiving the Alzheimer’s d*** Leqembi."
The post continued, "It is administered via IV in the hand, causes swelling in the brain requiring regular MRIs, and one of the main side effects is tiredness. Is the president taking secret Alzheimer’s d***s?"

Similarly, another X user shared a picture of Trump’s bruise on his right hand and wrote, "I think Trump is on the intravenous dementia d*** Leqembi, which explains the bruising on his hand and MRI. Medication needs to be monitored by MRI for brain bleed."

Another X post read, "Trump could be getting infusions of Leqembi, a new Alzheimer’s d**g. He clearly has dementia, & his father died from Alzheimer’s disease. Regular MRI’s are also required to monitor side affects. Leqembi treatment explains a lot."

Fact Check: False, no credible evidence to back the claim
The claims made in the online rumors are false, as there is no credible medical, official, or verifiable evidence that Donald Trump is taking the Alzheimer’s drug Leqembi.
The rumor appears to stem from social media users’ speculation, linking recent reports about Trump’s health, including bruising on his hand, an MRI scan, and moments of fatigue, to potential side effects of Leqembi. However, none of these claims are supported by facts.
Official statements from the president’s physician and the White House deny that Trump is undergoing any such treatment or experiencing cognitive impairment. They described his recent MRI as “preventive” and “perfectly normal.”
The bruising on his hand has been attributed to aspirin use and frequent handshakes, along with a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency. The wording of the claim first appeared on X in early December as a satirical or partisan jab and has since been reposted without sources.
Trump sparks concern after appearing drowsy during Cabinet meeting
President Donald Trump seemed to nearly fall asleep several times during Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting. His heavy-eyed moments raised concerns about his alertness, but White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended him, saying Trump was not disengaged and was listening “attentively.”
Trump frequently squinted and, at least once, fully closed his eyes during the meeting. He later said, “I am sharper than I was 25 years ago.” Meanwhile, Cabinet members took turns highlighting their achievements and praising the president.

At one point during the meeting, when Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick spoke, Trump appeared to close his eyes completely for several seconds before leaning forward to respond to Lutnick’s remarks.
A viral video also showed Trump seemingly dozing off while sitting next to Senator Marco Rubio, with his eyes closing and his head nodding.
