Morgan Freeman suffered 'nerve damage' in 2008 car crash
Freeman suffered an accident in 2008 that left his left arm permanently injured. Despite this, he continues to command the screen with his acting and voice.
The crash occurred when he swerved off a Charleston, Mississippi, road, requiring emergency services to rescue him from inside his car.

“They had to use the jaws of life [hydraulic cutters] to extract him from the vehicle. He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point,” as per reports.
Though he’s experienced ongoing pain, Freeman remains active.
“I suffered nerve damage and it hasn’t gotten better. I can’t move it,” he said as per Daily Mail.
He also wears a compression glove to promote blood flow and has been seen wearing it on stage, including during the Oscars 2025.
“If you don’t move your hand, it will swell up. Do you know you move your hand about a million times a day?” he once remarked.
Freeman previously shared with Esquire, “It’s the fibromyalgia. Up and down the arm. That’s where it gets so bad. Excruciating.”
