School says Ed Sheeran's listened to the young music enthusiasts and 'encouraged' them

Ed Sheeran's visit was organized with Create Music, which works to offer arts education to musicians of all ages. Ed Sheeran was involved in offering music lessons, participated in Q&As, and also donated five of his guitars.

"Ed Sheeran coming to Fairlight Primary School isn't an everyday thing, despite me claiming he was one of my celebrity mates! He was amazing with everyone he met — interested in them, chatting to them and he was very humble," said the school's headteacher, Damien Jordan, in a statement.

He also talked about Ed Sheeran patiently listening to young music enthusiasts in a statement, "He took time to listen to the children and encourage them. He told us how he struggled at school but how music helped him and encouraged him and how he now wanted to do the same."

Meanwhile, Jordan also shared that the school has "60 children who do individual music instrument tuition every week with Create Music, as well as wider music lessons," reported People.

Sheeran also had fun learning how to play Queen's 'We Will Rock You' on a glockenspiel, "which he loved!"

"The children left school telling their parents all about it and no one believed them," added Jordan. "But it was 100% true — you had to be there to believe it," said the headteacher.

Create Music director Peter Chivers expressed feeling "grateful" and thanked Sheeran for his "support" and "generous donation" of five guitars "to help other budding musicians on their way."

Ed Sheeran's earlier similar visit to the Boston Music Project Youth Group

This is not the first time Sheeran has done something like this, in July 2013, he did something similar by surprising the Boston Music Project Youth Group.

“Morning off in Boston so went to surprise this kids music group, was so fun,” Sheeran wrote on Instagram and shared videos from the performance.

Internet reacts to Ed Sheeran's sweet gesture by performing at primary school

Netizens hailed Ed Sheeran's moving gesture by performing for young music students.

One online user said, "Good on Ed although I’m not surprised! Didn’t he work at a charity shop one summer whilst taking a break from song writing and concerts. I’m sure he did!"

"Nice to see someone famous give up a bit of their time to give people an experience they will never forget. Some of the other ‘celebrities’ should take note and treat the people who put them where they are with a bit of respect," the second said.

"Absolutely correct. Ed seems to have a lot of haters, but nobody could accuse him of not being gracious. He gives back freely and happily. Says a lot about his character," one commented.

"What a lovely thing to do! I bet those kids will remember that for such a long time!" another joined.

A user wrote, "Proving you don't need to act like an idiot just because you have fame and fortune, you can be normal as well, especially if you're talented."
