LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Grammy Award winner Shaggy, whose real name is Orville Richard Burrell, has stunned his fans after he used his 'real voice' and explained the reason for his 'signature vocals' in a new social media post.

The Jamaica-born artist recently posted a video on Instagram where he discussed the origins of his singing accent. The 55-years-old musician is known for his deep, husky voice and thick Jamaican accent, but now the origin behind his real accent has been revealed.

Shaggy's signature voice impacted by his time in US Marines

For the unversed, the Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter was born in Jamaica. Shaggy moved to Brooklyn, New York with his mother when he was 18.

He soon joined the United States Marines. However, fans have just recently discovered the true 'voice' of the 55-year-old musician, despite the fact that he has been in the industry for decades.

In a video doing the rounds on social media like TikTok and Instagram, Shaggy explains where the inspiration for his unique sounding voice that he puts on came from.
