BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY: Former president Donald Trump had an unexpected guest at his recent press conference. A fly landed on Trump's face, bringing back memories of yet another similar occurrence in a campaign led by the former president.

The press conference in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Thursday, August 15, aimed to associate Trump's Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, with the inflation during the Biden-Harris administration.

This comes a day after the Labor Department released a largely favorable inflation report and before Kamala Harris' significant policy speech on Friday, August 16, where she is anticipated to advocate for an unprecedented federal prohibition on grocery price-gouging.

During an press conference at the Trump International Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, the Republican presidential nominee was surrounded by groceries to drive home the point that inflation had affected consumers' grocery spending. At the moment, Trump encountered an issue with flies buzzing around and landing on his face.

The image emerged during a week when the Republican nominee lost significant ground in various polls and relinquished his status as the betting favorite in the race, as reported by USA Today.

The incident of the fly brought back memories of the 2020 vice presidential debate when a fly perched on then-Vice President Mike Pence's head for several minutes.

This event turned into a significant cultural moment during the campaign, leading to parodies and its use in merchandise by the Biden-Harris campaign.

Meanwhile, during Thursday's press event, the buzz around the flies overshadowed Trump's comments, which diverged into campaign rhetoric on immigration and personal digs at Harris.

"I don’t have a lot of respect for her, I don’t have a lot of respect for her intelligence," he said.

He also reiterated unfounded claims of winning Pennsylvania in the 2020 election—a state he lost by over 80,000 votes.
