Food Network fame Darnell Ferguson arrested over multiple charges, including burglary and strangulation
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: Food Network star Darnell ‘SuperChef’ Ferguson is facing multiple criminal charges after being arrested by Louisville, Kentucky, authorities.
PageSix confirmed that Darnell Ferguson has been arrested under burglary, strangulation, and terror threatening charges.
Emergency protection request against Darnell ‘SuperChef’ Ferguson
Fergusen is also booked for misdemeanor charges of assault, menacing, criminal mischief, and theft-receipt of a stolen credit or debit card. The arrest took place on Tuesday, January 9, Metro Corrections booking records show. The 36-year-old was processed at the jail at 3.55 pm local time.
More details surrounding his arrest are unknown, but records show a family court granted an emergency protection request against him on January 2.
Ferguson has an arraignment scheduled for 9 am local time on Wednesday, January 10, and a hearing for the protection order is set for January 17.
As per defense attorney, Ferguson went to his home, saw another person there and it "led to an altercation." Allegations in the court memo mention that he forced his way into the victim's home, punched walls, strangled her to the point of unconsciousness, threatened to kill her, and then told her "she was his and no one else's," before stealing her credit cards and ID.
Darnell ‘SuperChef’ Ferguson decided to focus on TV career
The well-known Louisville chef is a father to eight children with his wife Tatahda Ferguson who has been a regular on Food Network for years.
The second season of his show ‘SuperChef: Grudge Match’ premiered in December 2023.
The man was part of the three seasons of Guy Fieri’s 'Tournament of Champions' where he had a face-off against him in high-pressure situations.
He was also a co-host during Season 25 of 'Worst Cooks in America' with Anne Burrell.
His website’s bio reads that he “found himself on a self-destructive path, leaving him homeless, in and out of jail, and unemployed for nearly a year.”
He later became “serious” about his passion for cooking. “Darnell teaches kids, communities, and those in need how cooking can be a positive and creative outlet by employing teens, young adults, and those in need,” it stated.
Darnell started Superchefs and Tha Drippin’ Crab restaurants in Louisville, but both businesses failed. He then began to focus on his TV career from then on.
