WASHINGTON, DC: Sean Hannity voiced his frustration over the 2025 NYC mayoral election but said he has no plans to leave the US.

During the election night interview, Hannity sat with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and mocked Zohran Mamdani’s projected win in the 2025 New York City mayoral race. The interview took place before the official New York election results were announced.

Sean Hannity declares, 'I will not be moving to Ireland'

Hannity, who supported Jack Ciattarelli, began by sharing messages and memes from his friends.

“I’m literally in tears. I’m having a hard time keeping a straight face for this reason. I have really funny friends,” Hannity said. “One meme shows the Statue of Liberty sitting down, smoking a cigarette, saying, ‘F it! I’m gonna move to Florida.’ Another has a picture of Mamdani with the caption, ‘Realtor of the Year in the state of Florida.’ It’s cracking me up.”

Hannity moved from New York to Florida in early January 2024, saying Florida’s political leadership better fits his values and lifestyle.

Although Hannity’s words were unclear in the video shared by DeSantis, reports indicate that he declared, "I will not be moving to Ireland to join Rosie. I will not be joining Ellen DeGeneres, either. I will not be spending the next year of my life saying, 'Racist fascist Nazi Stalin Mussolini,' like we've had to experience the last year."

Celebrities like Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres left the country after President Donald Trump returned to the White House in early 2025. Notably, Rosie moved to Ireland, while Ellen relocated to England.

Then, Governor DeSantis responded jokingly, saying, “Well, first, Sean, I’m glad you cleared up that you’re not going to Ireland. If Florida had to give up Hannity in exchange for Rosie O’Donnell, I would veto that trade on behalf of the free state of Florida. Don’t you worry about that.”

Notably, in another instance Hannity said, “I don’t know, Bret, if I quite agree with that analysis in this sense. And I honestly feel bad. I have friends of mine in New York. My phone is blowing up. They are officially depressed and scared… A full nine percent of people say that they will leave if he in fact got elected. Before today, they said if he got elected, they are gonna leave New York City.” Once again, it’s clear that Hannity never mentioned leaving, confirming he is not moving to Ireland

DeSantis continued criticizing Mamdani, “This is a guy who embraces Marxist economics,” DeSantis said. “He claims he’ll lower costs by letting the government run grocery stores. The only people who think that would work are those who’ve never studied history."

Hannity then shifted the conversation back to election numbers, saying, “That’s a math problem — and I mean this sincerely. I wanted Mamdani to lose for my friends who still live in New York. I wanted Ciattarelli to win. I even went up and did a town hall.”

Rosie O'Donnell, who moved to Ireland, seems very content with her decision. She often posts videos on TikTok about her experiences in the European country and shares her thoughts on politics, especially Trump.

In a TikTok video earlier this year, she said of her move with her youngest child, “Although I was never someone who thought I would move to another country, that’s what I decided would be the best for myself and my 12-year-old child. It’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say. The people are so loving and so kind, so welcoming. And I’m very grateful.”

The comedian added, “I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home, and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country. And when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.”

During the lengthy clip, she also explained what pushed her to leave the US. She said, “I just felt like we needed to take care of ourselves and make some hard decisions and follow through. And now as we’re getting settled, I was ready to post this and to tell everybody what’s been going on.”
