The Fresno County Sheriff's Office announced on April 5 that the teen had been arrested over Hernandez's murder. The suspect was arrested and admitted to the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus on homicide charges

Deputies were called to a car parked in the middle of an orchard near Belmont and Washoe Avenues, west of Mendota, on January 17, 2024. A man who had died and had been mutilated was found inside the car. Hernandez was eventually identified as the victim, and investigators believe that he knew the suspect, Fox News reports.

Deputies urged anyone with knowledge about Fraylee Hernandez's murder to come forward and get in touch with Detective Richard Antunez at 559-600-8221. Detectives are still looking for additional information to aid the homicide investigation, even after the suspect was nabbed.

The murder stunned the Californian community and sparked worries about violence by undocumented immigrants, particularly those with a criminal past.

Following a 911 call on Monday at 2.35 pm, authorities discovered the victim's body in the 1100 block of S 13th Street. Richard Jones, the Butler County Sheriff, revealed Garcia-Gutierrez's ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) holder status at a press conference on Friday, March 29.

Sheriff Jones criticized President Joe Biden for the border security situation, stating that the state has been holding 999 "illegal aliens" in jail since July 2021, costing over $1.8 million, and has been deporting Garcia-Gutierrez seven times.
