John F Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy
On July 16, 1999, licensed pilot John Kennedy Jr, 38, traveled to Martha's Vineyard from an airport in Fairfield, New Jersey, with his wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, 33, and her sister Lauren Bessette, 34. Their plane was reported missing after it failed to arrive on schedule. The wreckage of the aircraft was eventually discovered in the Atlantic on July 19, after a search that ultimately turned up the three bodies on July 21.
Jenni Rivera
Shortly after takeoff on December 9, 2012, Jenni Rivera, then 43, died in a plane crash. Officials from Mexico verified that the small plane's wreckage had been discovered in the state of Nuevo Leon and that none of the seven persons believed to have been on board had survived. Born in Long Beach, California, Rivera gained worldwide recognition as the 'Diva of Banda', having sold over 20 million CDs. The Cessna Citation 501 aircraft, which was headed for Palm Beach, Florida, crashed into Percy Priest Lake at approximately 11 am, per NBC News. The aircraft took off from Smyrna Airport.
