Fury after NY singer Tish Hyman says Gold’s Gym banned her for reporting man in locker room

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Singer-songwriter Tish Hyman says her membership at a Los Angeles branch of Gold’s Gym was revoked after she confronted a person, who she says was a man, from entering the women’s locker room.

According to Hyman, the confrontation followed “weeks-worth of ignored complaints” about the same individual.

The heated confrontation was caught on camera and has since gone viral and caused a lot of outrage on social media including calls of boycotting Gold's Gym.

In a video she posted, Hyman shouts: “We already filed reports. No, no, no! You can’t get rid of me for this! I’m a woman and I have every right not to want a man in the restroom when I’m naked! There are girls naked in there!”.

During the incident, she specifically addresses the person, “Stay outta the women’s locker room! We don’t want it. He needs to have his gym membership revoked for that shit!”

The person she confronted, dressed in all black with dangling earrings, apparently then walked right back into the women’s locker room.

While Hyman continued to voice her outrage: “Look at him walking in there like it’s okay, it’s not okay!”

According to her: “They removed him — but then they turned around and terminated my membership too, as if I was being punished for speaking up.” 

She also posted on her Instagram saying “I WAS LITERALLY SCARED. THE WOMEN IN THE GYM ALL AGREED WITH ME. MANY were relieved that someone finally said something out loud. Men had to step up to get him out.” 

Hyman also later criticized the gym’s staff, accusing them of disregarding her safety even after she “cried and screamed for help.”

A separate video taken by bystanders showed Hyman angrily confronting the gym employees just before she was removed from the premises.

“Men! Grown men with big d**ks in the women’s locker room! And that’s why I’m getting kicked out, and I wanna make sure the girls to know!” she shouted.

In the clip, she could be seen pacing between the front desk and a nearby training area as she erupted in anger. “What the f**k? Everybody saw that man in the f–king locker room, and no one’s saying shit! … Me, naked in front of a man without my permission, but I’m the one who gets kicked out the gym y’all!”.

In the comments, Hyman explained that the gym location had recently been renovated and she called on the chain to install “trans restrooms.”

She also urged others to “take a stand” and “#BoycottGoldsGym.”

Gold’s Gym in LA under fire 

Hyman's call for a boycott and her video have sparked outrage online, with people on social media calling out the gym franchise for allegedly terminating her membership.

Speaking of boycotts, one X user drew comparisons with some other companies that recently invoked the public's ire, "@GoldsGym should be introduced to the history of Cracker Barrel and Bud Light! 

One social media user on X wrote, slamming the gym, "This is a simple issue. Give women their privacy. Give men their privacy. Shame on Gold’s Gym for making things unnecessarily complicated. 

Another X user shared, "This is disturbing. Gyms need clear policies and enforcement to protect everyone’s privacy. Women deserve to feel safe in their own locker rooms." 

One person also highlighted the safety concerns, writing, "This situation is really alarming and highlights a serious safety concern. Women should be able to feel secure in spaces designated for them, especially in private areas like locker rooms.

"Gold’s Gym (or any gym) has a responsibility to Enforce strict access rules – Only people whose legal gender aligns with the facility should be allowed in gender-specific locker rooms."

One social media also emphasized the dangers of allowing such behavior, as they wrote in a long rant, "This is absolute madness allowing people to enter spaces meant for the opposite gender under the claim of being transgender. Where is our collective sense of morality?

"Are we not opening the door for potential abuse and exploitation, whether intentional or not? This shift doesn’t just blur lines; it breaks down essential safeguards.

"Women and children are especially vulnerable when biological males gain unrestricted access to private spaces like bathrooms, changing rooms, or dormitories. Beyond discomfort, it can lead to emotional distress, privacy violations, and even physical harm.

"When we abandon basic boundaries in the name of inclusion, Inclusion should never come at the cost of safety, trust, and common sense." 

One woman slammed Gold's Gym saying, "Shame on you, @GoldsGym! A woman felt unsafe and spoke up, and she’s the one who got removed? What? Women are being diminished, dismissed, and silenced, loudly and publicly, for asserting boundaries that once defined safety and respect.

"A man in a sports bra is not a loophole to invade women’s spaces. If this demographic is truly such a core part of your business model, then create designated areas for everyone’s comfort and safety.
