Gabby Thomas overcomes obstacles to win gold at Olympics

Gabby Thomas dominated the event's semifinals with a time of 21.86 seconds but faced a significant setback when she tore her hamstring ahead of the World Championships in 2022 which made her opt out of the competition.

In July, Thomas said, “To be forced to sit that out was very difficult, but it also made me truly appreciate how important track is to me, and how much I want to do this."

“I’m so thrilled to be going to Paris and to represent Team USA, feeling strong and at my best," she continued.

“In 2021, I was just happy to be there, and it felt a bit unexpected,” she told People.

“Now, I have bigger goals for myself and I am doing everything I can to bring home the gold. I truly feel like this is a special year," Thomas added.
