NYC Israel Day Parade draws top leaders as Mamdani skips annual show of solidarity
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: A sea of blue and white swept through Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue on May 31 as thousands of Jewish and Israeli Americans filled the streets for the annual Israel Day Parade, billed as the largest public event in solidarity with the Jewish state. For decades, the Israel Day Parade has been a fixture on New York’s political calendar, serving as a key platform for elected officials and candidates to show their support for Israel and solidarity with the city’s Jewish community. As prominent New York leaders–including Eric Adams, Michael Bloomberg, Governor Kathy Hochul and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch–turned out in support of the city’s Jewish community, Mayor Zohran Mamdani stood apart by skipping the annual parade.
