LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Governor Gavin Newsom slammed President Trump as being “in retreat” following the dismissal of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, labeling the move a sign of “weakness masquerading as strength.”

Newsom further declared that Noem will be remembered as the “most shamelessly incompetent and cruel” secretary in US history, calling for her to be held accountable for her actions.

Newsom on Thursday, March 5, argued that the removal of Noem is not a sign of decisive leadership but a reaction to growing national resistance.

"Donald Trump is in retreat. Today is a perfect example of that, with the first firing of a high-profile Cabinet member," Newsom stated.

He suggested that the administration is struggling to maintain its ground because of the "steel spine of citizens that stood up, real patriots in this country, pushed back against all that."

The Governor noted that this shift is visible in places like Minnesota and globally, claiming that the President is simply "acting out as he always does."

Newsom says firing Noem is not enough

Governor used his harshest words for Noem’s performance, insisting that her departure from the cabinet is just the beginning.

In a post on X, Newsom wrote: "Kristi Noem will go down as the most shamelessly incompetent and cruel Homeland Security Secretary in US history."

He emphasized that losing her position does not erase the impact of her tenure on the American people.

Newsom insisted, "Firing her is not enough. NOEM, GREG BOVINO, and STEPHEN MILLER all must be held accountable for terrorizing and endangering the American people."

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer posted a short but pointed message on X welcoming the decision.

Ken Martin, chair of the Democratic Party, also criticized Noem’s record on X.

Meanwhile, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz also took to X to criticize Noem’s record.
