George Clooney admits wife Amal's surprise parties always fall flat on him: 'I have low blood pressure'

LOS NAGELES, CALIFORNIA: George Clooney says he's not the easiest person to surprise, even when the effort is for his birthday.

The actor opened up about his wife's repeated attempts at planning surprise celebrations and why they never seem to go as expected.

While speaking with Patti LuPone for Variety’s 'Actors on Actors' Broadway edition, George Clooney shared that his wife, Amal Clooney, has made several efforts to surprise him, but without much success.

"My wife keeps trying to throw surprise parties for me. Every time people will jump out and say, 'Surprise!' and I’ll go, 'Hey, how are you doing?' And my wife’s like, 'Are you not surprised?'" Clooney said.

"I just have low blood pressure. It doesn’t often appear that I’m nervous when I’m in knots," he added.

Despite his calm demeanor, the 'Wolfs' actor said stepping into new territory, like his upcoming Broadway debut, can still be unsettling.

George Clooney calls Broadway debut 'scary' 

George Clooney is making his stage debut in the Broadway version of 'Good Night, and Good Luck', where he plays legendary journalist Edward R Murrow.

"Forty years. It’s scary to do something new. But I’m lucky," he said.

In 'his CBS Mornings' appearance, Clooney talked about his marriage to Amal Clooney, calling it “easy” and shared that the couple has never had an argument since getting married in 2014, MEAWW reported.

"We’re trying to find something to fight about!" Clooney added while reflecting on their relationship.

Clooney praised his wife, Amal, and spoke about how grateful he feels in their relationship.

"I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman," said Clooney. "I feel as if I hit the jackpot."



 

"There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think I’m the luckiest man in the world. So it’s great." Clooney added.

George Clooney responds to Donald Trump's criticisms 

He also responded to criticism from public figures, including Donald Trump and Elon Musk, over his activism and public statements.

“I’ve known Donald Trump for a long time. My job is not to please the President of the United States,” said Clooney.

“My job is to try and tell the truth when I can and when I have the opportunity,” he added.

"I am well aware of the idea that people will not like that, people will criticize that. Elon Musk has weighed in. That is their right. It’s my right to say the other side."
