George Clooney drives wife Amal to 'wit's end' with his theater ambitions amid rumors of marriage woes

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Amal Clooney expects she and her husband, George Clooney, will return to Europe this summer after his Broadway debut 'Good Night and Good Luck' ends in New York this June.
However, George is reportedly having second thoughts and wants to do another play, triggering new tensions in their marriage.
Clashing priorities strain Amal and George Clooney's relationship
The couple's clashing priorities are reportedly straining their relationship as Amal Clooney, 47, is said to be exhausted while George Clooney, 64, keeps pursuing his ambitions, according to a source cited by Radar Online.

The insider said, “They realize they can't keep papering over the cracks. Despite George's best efforts to try and smooth-talk his way out of the situation, the fact is they have virtually been leading separate lives for quite some time.”
George has received praise for his portrayal of CBS journalist Edward R Murrow in 'Good Night and Good Luck', drawing parallels between the Red Scare and today's political climate.
The show's website mentions that the Broadway production "chronicles a time in American history when truth and journalistic integrity stood up to fearmongering and disinformation—and won."
Amal Clooney not keen on extending time in New York for another play
Amal Clooney is reportedly unhappy with George's growing interest in staying in New York longer.
The source added, “Now, George has caught the theater bug and he's talking about staying in New York to do another play, which has Amal at her wits' end.”

Amal, who already moved to New York for George’s Broadway stint, is reportedly not on board with extending their time in the US.
“That's definitely not on her agenda. She's already sacrificed enough for him by moving to New York so he could fulfill his Broadway dream. She thinks one play is enough,” the insider said.
Since their marriage in 2014, the Clooneys have mostly lived in Europe, sharing time between their homes in the South of France, Lake Como in Italy, and a countryside estate in England.

In recent months, they’ve been staying at their Manhattan apartment with their 7-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, according to the publication.
George Clooney's East Coast desire vs Amal Clooney's professional commitments
George Clooney’s desire to stay on the East Coast is conflicting with Amal’s professional commitments in London and Europe, according to the source.
"George wants to stay on the East Coast, where he's making lots of new friends and impressing old ones," the insider said.
Amal's priorities lie elsewhere, as she's hesitant to make America her full-time base, with the source noting she’s "not sold on America as a full-time base."

“As far as she's concerned, now is the time for George to start prioritizing his life around her and the kids rather than his showbiz career,” added the insider. “George is torn between the two – and therein lies the problem.”
