George Clooney names Democrat he feels is 'spectacular' among all other 2028 White House contenders

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: George Clooney has revealed the name of the Democrat he thinks is the right candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
The Oscar-winning actor told CNN host Jake Tapper in an interview that aired Wednesday, April 16, "There’s one person in particular I think is spectacular ... There are a few."
He praised Democratic Governors Andy Beshear of Kentucky and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, before saying, "But who I think is levitating above that is Wes Moore," as reported by The New York Post.
George Clooney discloses why he thinks Wes Moore is the right candidate for the 2028 presidential election
George Clooney, who is also a Democratic megadonor, then went on to explain why he chose Wes Moore over others, as he mentioned how brilliantly the Maryland governor handled the March 2024 collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore that took the lives of six members of a maintenance crew.

The ‘Ticket to Paradise’ star also cited Moore’s combat service and his work at a George Soros-backed venture philanthropy firm.
He stated, "I think he is a guy that has handled this tragedy in Baltimore beautifully. He did two tours of duty in Afghanistan — active duty. He speaks beautifully. He’s smart. He ran a hedge fund — the Robin Hood Foundation. He’s a proper leader."
"I like him a lot. I think he could be someone we could all join in behind," Clooney explained.

The 63-year-old also shared that there’s not much time left to find the right one for the next election.
He stressed, "We have to find somebody rather soon ... It’s our job now to put together a proper team to stand up because [Democrats are] right now polling very poorly."
George Clooney says it was his 'civic duty' to call on Joe Biden to drop out of 2024 race
During the same interview, George Clooney also justified his New York Times op-ed, in which he urged former President Joe Biden to step down from the 2024 race.
Clooney told Tapper, "It was a civic duty. When I saw people on my side of the street, not telling the truth, I thought that was time," possibly referring to Biden's aides lying about his mental and physical acuity, as per The New York Post.

The actor further said, "It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fund-raiser was not the Joe ‘big f***ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate."
