'Geriatric Park': Steven Spielberg trolled over working for Biden's re-election campaign as a strategist

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Celebrated filmmaker Steven Spielberg is reportedly working with President Joe Biden's reelection campaign as a strategist for the upcoming Democratic National Convention, reported NBC on Friday, April 26.

An unnamed source claimed that Spielberg has actively participated in meetings with convention organizers for the August event.

There are no plans for creating a film for the occasion as of now, though the maestro had produced a film for former President Barack Obama's campaign back in 2008.

Spielberg has been a long-time supporter of Biden, according to NBC, and appeared at the latter's campaign fundraiser in Los Angeles last December. The guest list for the event included names such as Barbra Streisand, director Rob Reiner, recording industry magnate David Geffen and others.



 

The incumbent's campaign is co-chaired by Spielberg’s friend and former DreamWorks business partner Jeffrey Katzenberg, who also hosted a fundraiser in the area the same month.

At present, they are looking forward to a mid-June Los Angeles fundraiser, where Obama in in talks to appear, and which may see Katzenberg and George Clooney as hosts, shared the source.

While no official statement about the upcoming plans has been received, the starry event is expected to be a follow-up to the high-profile fundraiser that was held at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall in March, which featured Biden with former Democratic Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.

The event was hosted by Mindy Kaling and moderated by Stephen Colbert, and reportedly raised more than $26 million for the campaign.

Netizens took to the social media platform X to troll Spielberg for reportedly working on Biden's campaign by using movie puns and references, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Touching films about welcoming aliens. Honestly, nobody else does it better!" mocked a third.



 

"Well it IS fiction so..." commented a fourth user.
