NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former Republican Representative Liz Cheney, who is still considering a third-party presidential candidacy in 2024, stated that she is dedicated to taking all necessary steps to stop Donald Trump from winning the presidency again.

On Tuesday, December 05, the former Wyoming congresswoman appeared on CNN’s 'AC360,' where she gave a bleak forecast for what a second Trump presidency might bring.

“There’s a huge amount of work to be done after this election cycle, whether it’s rebuilding the Republican Party – which increasingly looks like, you know, maybe an impossible task – or helping to begin a new party that’s very focused on what the Republican Party used to stand for before this cult of personality,” Cheney told host Anderson Cooper.

“But right now and in this election cycle, I’ll do whatever I have to do to make sure Donald Trump’s not elected,” she continued.

What did Liz Cheney say about Donald Trump?

The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney stated that a third-party campaign in 2024 has to be taken into consideration, but cautioned that rallying against the outgoing president "can’t be a partisan issue."

“We’re at a moment where the possibility of a third-party run is something we have to consider more than we ever have before because of the threat that Trump poses,” she said, adding “But I also think we have to ensure that at some point, we’re unified against him.”

“It has to be a situation where we say, I don’t care what your view is on this issue or that issue or whatever the big policy issue is. If you care about the Constitution and you’re going the defend it, we have to work and vote together for that,” Cheney continued.

Cheney has often hinted at a potential presidential candidacy against Trump while promoting her latest book, 'Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning.'

Previously, while talking to the Washington Post, she stated that she wouldn’t have considered a third-party run “several years ago,” but that things have changed.

On CNN, Cheney gave a bleak forecast of what a second Trump presidency might entail, stating unequivocally that he would not uphold court orders, pardon January 6 rioters, and that there wouldn't be "some of the good people to stop him."

“A president who won’t enforce the law creates a situation where things just unravel. And he will have people around him who will help him do it,” she said.

Internet reacts to Liz Cheney’s remarks

Cheney has divided the internet with her remarks regarding Trump and third-party bids. “Sounds like a lot of the Uniparty might be scared. What are they trying to keep covered up?” one user said.

“Cheney had one of the most conservative voting records in Congress, but she is not an ideologue. She is a patriot,” a second user wrote.

“God bless Liz Cheney one of the very few Republicans willing to stand up and call out the orange Jesus,” the third user praised.

“She needs to get a job cause no one would vote for her, even for dog catcher. Why is she not working?” a fourth user fumed, while a fifth one said “She is a Democrat, she hates Trump and has no place in the republican party, she does nothing for us.”

“Her father was a war criminal. She’s rich because her dad lied to people about WMDs in another third world nation with riches to be sacked,” one more wrote.
