'Get over it': Internet advises Minnie Driver to let go of the disappointment after 1998 Matt Damon breakup

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Internet suggests Minni Driver get over her decades-old relationship with Matt Damon after she revealed the advice she would give her younger self when she was heartbroken.

The 'Good Will Hunting' actress is now 54 years old and was 25 when she broke up with Matt Damon in 1998 shortly before he won an Oscar for writing the 1997 film.

The actress recently offered insights into her reaction upon seeing her ex-boyfriend, Matt Damon, win an Oscar in 1998 for writing the movie. She also disclosed her retrospective advice to her younger self.

"First of all, I want to wrap my arms around that young woman and hug her and go, 'It's all going to be fine, honey. Don't worry,'" Minnie said on the March 14 episode of 'The Jennifer Hudson Show'.

Driver, who had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the film added, "We'd recently broken up. I was nominated, he was nominated, the movie was so amazing, he had a new girlfriend. I was totally heartbroken."

The British-American star commented after a throwback video was shown by Hudson, which captured the actress looking extremely sad as Damon and Ben Affleck received the Best Original Screenplay Oscar for 'Good Will Hunting' in 1998, E! Online reported.

In 2023, after a clip from the 1998 Oscar Awards of Affleck and Damon’s acceptance speech was circulated on Instagram, one fan observed and commented, "Minnie looks so sad," to which Minni Driver replied "My Face."

She then directly replied to the fans, "Matt had ended our relationship a few weeks before this, and was at the Oscars with his new gf… I was devastated. Wish I could have celebrated more as it was an amazing moment for all of us, and for this wonderful film ! ♥️"

She said on the show, "Anyone who's been heartbroken can understand," adding, "It's like the last thing you want is everybody having a window in on that and it was so public."

Internet advises Minni Driver to get over her breakup with Matt Damon 

Following Driver's latest advice to herself, the internet is suggesting she get over her breakup with Damon.

"How about get over it! It was over 20 years ago!" wrote a user on X.

One more asked her to move on by writing, "He did what billions have done. Ended a relationship he wasn't happy in. Its called life. Look on it as them doing you a favor cause you don't wanna waste your life with somebody who doesn't want you. Move on."

One wrote, "I feel bad for her. Hopefully one day she can be a BIG Driver."
