Outrage as Gina Loudon accuses 'Wicked' of racism after mistaking Ariana Grande for Hispanic
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: MAGA media figure Gina Loudon labeled the film 'Wicked' as "offensive" and "racist" towards White people, mistakenly referring to one of its stars, Ariana Grande, as clearly Hispanic.
“Wicked, the movie broke box office records,” Loudon told her audience on the far-right cable network Real America's Voice on Tuesday, November 26, as reported by RawStory.
She further added, “I saw it, but I was very excited at the idea of seeing the interpretation of this. But I should have known it’s Holly-weird.”
Gina Loudon criticizes 'Wicked' for 'woke' casting and racial stereotyping
The film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical garnered close to $165 million in box office revenue during its debut weekend, reports Variety. The movie features Ariana Grande, sporting platinum blond hair, in the role of Glinda, "the good witch."
However, Loudon downplayed the film's success, asserting that it was merely a result of being “woke in the ways that they could think of.”
“Let’s just start with the fact that they have Ariana Grande, who is obviously a Hispanic woman, playing the part of a ditzy, blonde, White really villain, when it comes right down to it, for this particular movie,” Loudon remarked. “The racism and the racial appropriation I just thought was offensive, frankly.”
She went on to say, “All White people aren’t dumb and evil,” saying that she gets “sick of that storyline.”
Ariana Grande, a singer and actress, has Italian-American heritage, not Latino or Hispanic, on both sides of her family. Last year, her brother and mother obtained Italian passports.

“I love Italy SO MUCH and I can’t wait to dive even further into the culture and my heritage!! What a huge moment for us,” her brother, Frankie Grande, posted on Instagram at that time. “AND to get to share it with my mother… priceless.”
