Glen Powell affirms Sydney Sweeney's encounter with 'huge huntsman spider' while filming 'Anyone But You'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Glen Powell and ‘Euphoria’ star Sydney Sweeney recently appeared on ‘Today’ show and opened up about a scary BTS moment while filming ‘Anyone But You’.
The pair joined NBC host Hoda Kotb and discussed their upcoming romantic comedy ‘Anyone But You’.
In addition to discussing their on-screen chemistry, they addressed questions about their off-screen romance.
During the discussion, Sweeney disclosed that she was bitten by a spider while filming a scene, and Powell was the only one who noticed that something was amiss.
Glen Powell confirms Sydney Sweeney got bit by a spider
In a recent 'Today' show appearance, Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney joined Hoda Kotb to discuss their upcoming movie, 'Anyone But You.'
Sweeney explained that during a scene from her forthcoming romantic comedy, she screams bloody murder in response to a sizable spider.
Interestingly, it comes to light that Sweeney wasn't just acting; she was genuinely bitten by the spider during that moment.
Fortunately, Powell was the sole individual who recognized the real-life incident as it unfolded.
Sweeney told Kotb, “Well, the spider actually bit me in the middle of this scene but nobody called cut because they thought I was just making a very dramatic, interesting choice in this scene, and Glen was the only one who finally caught on.”
She continued, “They thought I was acting but it actually bit me and Glen goes, ‘Wait, this is a little more serious.’”
Powel chimed in and confirmed that Sweeney was indeed bitten by a “huge huntsman spider.”
Powell explained that he became aware of the problem when he noticed the distinctive tone in Sweeney's voice during her scream.
"Yeah, there's a different tone to her voice when somebody's actually being bitten by a spider," he remarked.
Fortunately, Sweeney confirmed that she didn't require hospitalization after the spider bite.
"No, I just took a couple of meds and went back to work," she shared.
Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney admit they ‘love each other’
Hoda Kotb also inquired about the persistent rumors surrounding the duo since they started filming ‘Anyone But You’, teasingly wondering if there might be "a little romance" between them.
"No, no, but we do love each other, and honestly, this is one of the most spectacular humans I've ever met," Powell responded. "She's really incredible."
Both Powell and Sweeney have previously addressed speculations about the nature of their relationship, consistently denying anything beyond friendship.

Earlier this month, Powell told Entertainment Tonight, “A great rom-com doesn’t survive without great chemistry, and Sydney is the easiest person to have chemistry with.”
He added, “I mean, immediately, it was like we’d known each other forever, and I think anybody that’s been on the set realizes I never get tired of talking to Sydney. We make each other laugh.”
“She’s awesome, obviously one of the most talented actresses we have. This movie has felt like a rom-com in itself because Sydney is very easy to pretend to fall in love with,” Powell concluded.
'Anyone But You,' a romantic comedy depicting the story of two exes pretending to be a couple at a destination wedding in Australia, is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 22.
