'Good riddance': Internet glad Katy Perry 'pushed out' as 'American Idol' judge over too much drama
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katy Perry has allegedly decided to relinquish her role as the ‘American Idol’ judge after being "pushed out the door" by producers.
As per RadarOnline, the ‘Roar’ singer was pressured by the producers of the reality show to leave her judging role. The outlet cited they were “tired of all the drama” surrounding her.
Katy Perry’s 'drama' has reportedly tired out 'American Idol' producers
The insider shared with National Enquirer, per RadarOnline, that Katy Perry felt she had no choice but to leave the show as she was getting portrayed as the villain after her comments were retouched in the editing room.
"Katy's saying she was painted as the harsh, evil judge on the show and that she's leaving of her own volition — but the truth is that she's much closer to that persona than she thinks, and everybody was tired of dealing with it,” added the insider.
Perry has courted multiple controversies throughout the preceding season for her several controversial comments.
The sources alleged that the producers were not happy with the low rating that the last season’s finale suffered and blamed the ‘Firework’ singer for the same.
"Producers are tired of all the drama that surrounds Katy," shared the tipster before adding, "They made it clear to her if she didn't leave on her own, they would show her the door."
While Perry shared with her fans that the upcoming 22nd season of the hit reality show will be her last, the report claimed that Perry received criticism for certain views about the contestants.
Katy Perry often shamed 'American Idol' contestants
Earlier in the season, Perry received flak for "mom-shaming" contestant Sara Beth Liebe for spending too much time with her three children.
Liebe slammed back at Perry after she criticized her for spending time with her children.
Liebe once said, "If Katy lays on the table, I think I'm going to pass out," to which Perry replied, "Honey, you've been laying on the table too much."
Liebe later took to her TikTok in March 2023, to address the issue and said, "It was embarrassing to have that on TV, and it was hurtful.”
She continued, "I see all of the young moms and just moms in general ... keep loving your babies. Nobody deserves to feel crappy about that. If you're a good mama and you love your babies, that's all that really matters. Other comments just don't feel necessary."
In April also, Perry found herself at the receiving end of the audience’s criticism when she criticized Nutsa Buzaladze for her glittery costume.
Perry said to the singer-songwriter during an episode in April 2023, "Nutsa, every time you take the stage it's like you glitter bomb the stage."
Fans relieved by 'entitled' Katy Perry's departure from 'American Idol'
The fans of the show however are relieved that Katy Perry has decided to leave the show and slammed her for "silliness."
One of the fans wrote on Facebook, "Thank God. her silliness is wayyyy over the top. Take a clue from the Voice where their little skirts (sic) and interactions are actually amusing. Not like her, laying on the floor and acting the fool!"
"Entitled Attitude," declared someone else.
Another fan observed, "It’s about time…..her silliness and foolishness was over the top for a decent singing competition…..Good-bye."
Someone else shared, "Katy is a lot of drama. However, it’s a shame that we now live in a society that everyone gets a trophy. If you cannot take the criticism then stay the hell home. I don’t like how American Idle has become the feel sorry for me show cause of what I’ve been through. Everybody has had very rough times in their lives. I don’t feel the show is the place to air it. Just my opinion."
Another disgruntled fan declared, "She certainly is annoying and no one I want to look at but I’m not sure that will get me to watch again."
"Good riddance. Stopped watching cuz of her," admitted another social media user.
