WASHINGTON, DC: Sen John Kennedy (R-La) had some choice words about Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) during an appearance on Fox News’ 'Hannity' on September 9.

The Louisiana Republican declared that Ocasio-Cortez is a media darling because she “checks all the boxes,” but claimed she’s about as deep as a “puddle.”

“Look, I don’t hate anyone, Sean,” Kennedy told host Sean Hannity. “But Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez is a creature, or creation, of the media. She checks all the boxes. She’s young, she’s liberal, she’s attractive, she’s ethnic. Her problem is that she’s shallow as a puddle. You scratch the surface, and you just get more surface.”

Kennedy wasn’t finished. “For her recent conduct, which you talked about, she gets and deserves a certificate of hypocrisy,” he added. “And I would remind her that it’s not your beliefs that make you a good person, it’s your behavior. Watch what politicians do, not what they say.”

Hannity painted Ocasio-Cortez and her progressive allies as the real faces of the Democratic Party.

“But you look at the leadership in the Democratic Party,” Hannity said. “You’ve got AOC flying around with Grandpa Bernie to fight the oligarchy, spending $3,500 on hotels and fancy places, and dining out and living like kings and queens. That’s fine, but I thought that they were fighting the oligarchy. Then you’ve got Mamdani. Then you’ve got The Squad. Then you’ve got AOC and The Squad.”

The criticism comes as Ocasio-Cortez has been touring with Sen Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) on their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, a cross-country progressive pep rally aimed at energizing the left. The New York congresswoman even popped into Queens over the weekend to stump for state Rep Zohran Mamdani, who’s aiming to topple Mayor Eric Adams. But the anti-billionaire crusade apparently comes with some very posh pit stops.

According to campaign filings reviewed by the New York Post, Ocasio-Cortez’s team shelled out $3,508.92 at the Vdara Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas back in March. The five-star property boasts luxury penthouses and a full-service spa, with some rooms costing nearly $1,000 a night, depending on the date.

It’s unclear exactly what Ocasio-Cortez and her staff enjoyed during their stay, or how many people racked up the hefty bill. Still, it’s worth noting that the New York congresswoman frequently brands herself as a working-class warrior battling the “ultrawealthy.”

The splurge came just as Ocasio-Cortez was railing against the rich at a town hall in North Las Vegas on March 20, alongside Sanders and Rep Steven Horsford (D-Nev).

“The only division that is truly hurting our country the most is the endless greed by those at the very, very top at the cost of everyone else,” Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd.

She added, “That is why it has always been up to us, the working class of America. Our power comes from remaining focused together and building a movement where there is a place for everyone.”

But Las Vegas wasn’t the only luxury stop on Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign tab. In April, her filings reported another $3,445.59 at the Asher Adams in Salt Lake City, a sleek hotel boasting “striking views” of the Wasatch Mountains.

The expense was logged just after she appeared at an April 13 rally with Sanders, where she blasted fellow lawmakers for cashing in on stock trades.

And there’s more: on the same day her campaign recorded the Asher Adams payment, it also reported $3,165.76 at the Leo Kent Hotel in Tucson, Arizona. That stay tied back to another Sanders rally about a month earlier during their anti-oligarchy roadshow.
