Spencer Lofranco detailed early motivations and career goals
In a 2014 interview with Interview Magazine, Spencer Lofranco reflected on how he entered the acting world. He said he decided to pursue acting at age 17, though his father had hoped he would become either a professional hockey player or a lawyer.
Before landing his role in 2014’s ‘Jamesy Boy,’ Lofranco studied acting for a year at the New York Film Academy. He credited his mother’s artistic background — she was a dancer, opera singer, and actor — as a major influence. He recalled, “Growing up, sometimes my mom would take me to auditions and I would sit in the waiting room with her,” adding that his father did not initially support his acting ambitions.
Lofranco also spoke about working with Angelina Jolie on ‘Unbroken,’ describing the director as his “dream girl.” Looking ahead, he said he wanted to take on grounded, candid roles and hoped to make choices that would protect his career. He named Sean Penn, Leonardo DiCaprio, and River Phoenix as actors whose paths he admired.
