At the Cheltenham Literature Festival a few years ago, Norton, 61, candidly shared that he had high hopes for Robert De Niro’s appearances but found the 'Goodfellas' star to be a 'benign' presence on the show.

While De Niro’s status as a Hollywood icon is unquestionable, Norton revealed that the actor’s storytelling abilities didn’t quite meet expectations during his interviews.

Norton,61, recalled how De Niro, 81, started telling a story that dragged on without a clear point. “We were all leaning in, willing it to be amazing... then he finally went, ‘Why am I telling this?’”

Norton recalled, admitting that the moment was awkward enough that it had to be cut from the broadcast.

He explained, "Nobody had an answer. We cut it."

Despite the less-than-thrilling interviews, De Niro has appeared on 'The Graham Norton Show' multiple times to promote various films, and the interactions were always polite, if not particularly dynamic.

Norton jokingly noted that De Niro is better at regurgitating scripts than engaging in captivating conversations.

Graham Norton’s revelation that Robert De Niro, despite being an iconic actor, was once his “worst ever” guest has sparked widespread chatter on Facebook.

Fans of 'The Graham Norton Show' quickly reacted to the resurfaced news, sharing their thoughts on De Niro's appearances.

One user joked, "Which is probably why he made the decision after being on multiple times that he was the worst ever," while another humorously defended the star, saying, "Robert is a fine upstanding gentleman. His bodyguard said so... or else."

“Without looking, I know it’s Robert De Niro. He’s been saying he’s the worst for years and I must agree with Graham. De Niro might be a good actor, but he is not a great guest. When he starts talking on these shows, I fall asleep. So boring lol," another added.

One user wrote, “Robert De Niro? Don’t have to read it, remember watching it and he was terrible!”

Another wrote, “Robert De Niro, you’re welcome.”

"Love him so funny and they let him ask stuff noone else can," a user said.
