Green Day slammed for setting Palm tree ablaze during fiery Coachella set

The blaze, allegedly sparked by fireworks launched during the band’s high-energy performance, quickly drew a crowd of stunned concertgoers and a wave of criticism online.

Video footage shared by People shows attendees gathering near the flaming tree as it burned against the night sky. The blaze, although quickly extinguished, fueled immediate backlash online, with some attempting to alert security.

YouTuber Faze Banks, who was at the festival when it all went down, managed to capture the moment as it unfolded live.

“Cant believe they are allowed to launch fireworks when its like 100 degrees in LA,” one user posted on Instagram.

Another wrote, “Coachella just needs to be canceled. Every year it's something, guess that's what you get when you have a bunch of high and mighties under the influence.”

“So stupid. The whole event seems stupid,” one wrote.

A user added, “They need to stop all pyro! Have they not learned a thing!” while another wrote, “To imagine what LA went through and still use pyrotechnics is beyond ignorant.”

One user declared, “Great another California fire.”

So far, neither Coachella organizers nor a rep for Green Day has issued a formal statement.

Green Day rewrites 'American idiot' lyrics to take fresh swipe at Donald Trump during Coachella

Green Day turned up the volume and the heat during their Coachella headlining set on Saturday, April 12, when they reworked the lyrics of their iconic protest anthem American Idiot to take aim at President Donald Trump and his “MAGA” movement.

Performing in front of a packed crowd at the Empire Polo Club, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong didn’t hold back.

While playing their hit 'American Idiot', they tweaked the lyrics to take aim at the “MAGA agenda,” directly referencing Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

Green Day made up of lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool closed out day two of the festival with a high-energy set. As they powered through a lineup of fan favorites, the band gave their two-decade-old anthem a modern twist.

In the middle of their charged weekend performance, the punk-rock legends didn’t hold back, making it clear they wanted no association with the “MAGA agenda,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
