MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE: In a shocking turn of events, a grand jury in, Tennessee has indicted Gregory Tanner, the son-in-law of 83-year-old Rebecca Seay, for her well-orchestrated murder and burying her body in a garden.

Seay, a dementia patient, was reported missing on February 18, prompting an extensive search by authorities.

Timeline of events leading to discovery of Rebecca Seay's body

The 83-year-old had last been seen leaving the hospital on January 22, 2022, under the care of Tanner. The investigation took a grim twist when on March 3, 2022, Seay's body was discovered in the flower bed of a property on North Montgomery Street near Midtown.

This discovery sent shockwaves through the community and intensified scrutiny of Tanner, who had been her caretaker before her disappearance. Further investigation into Seay's affairs revealed disturbing details.

Gregory Tanner's alleged exploitation of Rebecca Seay's finances exposed

Suspicious activity in her bank accounts, unrelated to her care, prompted law enforcement to dig deeper. Between January and March of that year, Tanner allegedly made purchases totaling $24,600 using Seay's name, as per News 5.

Additionally, it was discovered that $80,800 worth of checks had been forged by the son-in-law.

Gregory Tanner's arrest and subsequent Indictment on multiple counts

Tanner was subsequently taken into police custody, though he was later released on a $50,000 bond. However, the gravity of his alleged offenses could not be overlooked.

As a result, a grand jury has now indicted the suspect on multiple charges including theft of property, forgery, financial exploitation of an elderly or vulnerable person, identity theft, and abuse of a corpse.

Texas woman confesses to shooting death of grandmother

In a separate occurrence, a Texas woman has been charged with murder after admitting to shooting her 80-year-old grandmother.

Kelsie Miles, aged 30, reportedly arrived at the Grand Prairie Police Department at approximately 5 am on Sunday, March 17, and disclosed to officers that she had shot her grandmother, Betty Lou Hearn, aged 80.

The tragic incident took place at their shared residence on Colwick Avenue in East Oak Cliff, Dallas, reported MEAWW.

Following her apprehension, Miles was conveyed to the Dallas County Jail, where she is currently detained on a bond set at $750,000. The investigation into this distressing event continues.
