Gwen Stefani opens up about 'regrets and mistakes' amid rumors of marriage trouble with Blake Shelton
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gwen Stefani, 54, is speaking out about her regrets and the mistakes she has made amid the speculation of trouble in her marriage with Blake Shelton, 47.
Recently, Stefani appeared in an 'Audacy Check In' interview with Los Angeles radio station KROQ to promote her latest duet with Shelton, ‘Purple Irises’, released earlier this month.
Gwen Stefani talks about making mistakes
The former No Doubt member appeared for the interview where she talked about her musical journey and admitted that she finds it difficult to listen to some of her previous compositions because of their deep implications.
The ‘Just A Girl’ singer admitted, "I can’t listen to a lot of the songs because they speak so clearly to me," as per The Sun.
She explained, "And it’s like, you know, you have regrets, you have mistakes you’ve made. And most of the songs are about that."
Noting the impact some of the songs still have on her, she added, "If I do 'Ex-Girlfriend,' even when I say it, I almost throw up in my mouth.”
She continued, "Just knowing exactly where I was in that moment to write that song and what I know now? It’s just like, 'Oh, my God.' It just brings you right back."
Of late, Stefani’s fans have speculated a rift in her marriage with Shelton. It has been implied that the musical duo may be struggling with their marriage after spending several events apart.
In early February, the singer revealed that she would be spending significant time on the road while focusing on her cosmetics brand, GXVE Beauty.
It has also been said that the two country music stars not only spent the New Year alone but they were also not together on Valentine’s Day.
Insiders spill on star couple's relationship
Sources close to the couple recently shared with Life & Style Magazine that tension was brewing between the couple as they were spending more time apart from each other because of work commitments.
An insider said, “They’ve been spending a lot of time away from each other the past several months.”
They added, "It’s been frustrating. Their relationship of late has been a lot of texting and talking on the phone."
"Gwen and Blake used to be inseparable, but that’s changed,” said the insider before adding, "Everyone loves them together, so hopefully this is just a temporary thing.”
Another source weighed in on the fact that the couple spent the New Year's Eve apart, and remarked their marriage was "definitely in trouble."
They added, "Lately, they’ve been at odds about everything from career decisions and the parenting of her three boys to where they spend most of their time.”
"The tension continues to grow, and Blake and Gwen are drifting apart as a result," continued the source.
Gwen Stefani's hairstylist Suzette Boozer dismisses rumors
While many fans are speculating about the tension in Stefani and Shelton's marriage, the 'Sunday Morning' crooner's hairstylist Suzette Boozer stated a different opinion.
Boozer recently attended the 11th Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild (MUAHS) Awards in Beverly Hills, when she shared that the couple's "love is real."
Boozer said, per The Sun, "They're so good together. I mean, they have a new song together. It's a beautiful song together," before adding, “At the end of the day, you got to kind of ignore what you know is negative and it's just not true."
She further added that Stefani has grown a "thick skin" to ward off negativity and said, "You stay focused on what you are planning on doing. But it is very hard. Yes, you have to have thick skin."
She added, "And she's been in the business for a long time, so she does understand.”
Boozer also recalled the time when the couple helped her cope with the death of her mother.
The hairstylist said, “When I was losing my mom for the holidays, they would literally send me personal videos of them singing songs during the holidays together on a sofa," and added, "They were in no makeup, no hair on their the sofa, just like, 'Hey, Suzette, Merry Christmas. We just wanted to send you our greetings.'"
She gushed, “And it was so personal to me so that when people do ask me I'm always like, 'You don't even understand how great they are together,'" and added, "It was a beautiful thing. My mom did pass and they supported me through that."
