Gypsy Rose Blanchard posts 'first selfie of freedom' after prison release, fans say 'icon' is 'slaying'
CHILLICOTHE, MISSOURI: A day after walking free from prison after serving seven-year sentence for killing her mother, Gypsy Rose Blanchard posted a freedom selfie.
Scores of fans had already been celebrating 'Happy Gypsy Rose Day' after her Thursday, December 28, early morning release from Chillicothe Correctional Center.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is celebrating 'freedom'
Soon after her release, Gypsy Rose, 32, posted a selfie on her Instagram, captioning the photo, "First selfie of freedom!."
Gypsy Rose Blanchard had a troubled childhood as her mother suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSP), a mental disorder that made her lie about Gypsy’s age and health conditions.
In 2015, she conspired with her boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to kill her, which people believed was her breaking out from her mother's manipulations and years of abuse.
However, all are not of the same view. Some people believe she deserved life for walking persuading and manipulating her boyfriend to kill her mother eventually.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard picked by 'HITMAN' husband from jail
Following the stabbing death of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, Gypsy and her then-boyfriend Nick Godejohn were charged with murder. Gypsy pleaded guilty in 2016 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She married Ryan Scott Anderson, a Louisiana special education teacher who was behind bars.
Gypsy Rose was picked from prison upon her release by her new husband Ryan Scott Anderson in Missouri who was driving and had a wrestling-themed Bret Hart license plate that read "HITMAN," according to reports.
Gypsy, who had served seven years in prison for killing her mother, was granted parole earlier this year. She was released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri around 3.30 am local time, the Missouri Department of Corrections confirmed to People. "I'm ready for freedom," she told the publication.
