Internet defends Sylvester Stallone amid allegations of insulting background actors on 'Tulsa King' set
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sylvester Stallone is under scrutiny for purportedly disparaging background actors on the set of the Paramount+ series 'Tulsa King.' The renowned 'Rocky' star is alleged to have made derogatory remarks directed at Atlanta-based actors involved in the production.
Accusations against the actor surfaced on a private Facebook account, prompting the casting agency Rose Locke Casting to withdraw its services from the series.
Stallone and an unnamed director reportedly made disparaging remarks such as "ugly," "tub of lard," and "fat guy with [a] cane" towards some of the extras on set, reported Deadline.
The actor expressed in his post that the remarks had deeply affected him, stating that they "hurt his soul." Additionally, the actor claimed that Stallone allegedly insisted on the production surrounding him with "pretty young girls."
Rose Locke Casting took to Facebook to announce its decision to sever ties with 'Tulsa King,' stating that it would no longer be associated with the production.
"We wanted to send you an update on the happenings here in our casting world. We have chosen to part ways with Tulsa King. We will be finishing up next week and the 12th will be our last day," the agency's Facebook post read.
"We send well wishes to whomever takes over the show. We thank all of you great background artists for your continued support."
Meanwhile, Craig Zisk, the director and executive producer of the Paramount+ series, addressed the new developments on Tuesday, April 9th.
“No such insults were hurled," he told TMZ.
The ‘Tulsa King’ is a story that follows New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Stallone), just after he got out of prison after serving 25 years in prison.
It is from the ‘Yellowstone’ mastermind Taylor Sheridan, depicting the life of Manfredi after his boss exiled him to set up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Not happy with the move, Stallone goes on to create his team to form a new criminal empire. The ‘Tulsa King’ show is currently shooting for its season 2.
