The talented dog made an unexpected 'appearance' at the 2024 Academy Awards where he immediately won over both attendees and stars. 'Barbie' star Ryan Gosling seemed highly impressed and clapped for the pooch when he saw him "clapping" for Robert Downey Jr.

The canine was spotted 'clapping' after Robert Downey Jr's Best Supporting Actor triumph for 'Oppenheimer', in a now-viral gesture captured on camera during the ceremony.

Social media users expressed their happiness over the 7-year-old Border Collie's presence, even though behind-the-scenes photos showed that the moment had been skillfully staged with the aid of two artificial paws and with a small group of stand-in audience members.

Even though Messi's 'clapping' moment was pre-recorded and he wasn't technically present during the Oscars, the dog nonetheless became one of the most talked-about stars of the evening thanks to additional behind-the-scenes videos that were shared on social media.

The video showed Ryan, 43, beaming broadly at the dog sitting in his chair during the ceremony, looking smart in a bow tie. Jimmy Kimmel, the host, mentioned Messi in his opening monologue, adding to his growing popularity. The late-night television host declared that Messi "gave the performance of the year."
