'He felt this clock was ticking': Matthew Perry's ex-girlfriend reveals his last wish before death at 54
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kayti Edwards, the ex-girlfriend of Matthew Perry, has given insight into the meeting she had with the actor before he died.
Edwards also disclosed Perry’s last wish that he failed to fulfill as he lost his life at the age of 54 in October 2023 after years of addiction battle.
Kayti Edwards met Matthew Perry before his passing
She told The Mirror that she and the ‘Friends’ alum met in Malibu. At the time, Molly Hurwitz was the fiancee of the late actor.
The former assistant of Edwards shared, “I ran into him at this little juice bar called the Vitamin Barn in Malibu, and we sat down and chatted for ages.”
She further revealed, “I actually didn’t really recognize him at first because he had gained a lot of weight, which was great as when you are sober, you gain a bunch of weight.”
Edwards also mentioned that “having children was a big” dream of Perry. “He felt like he was getting older, so it did not surprise me that he was getting married so quickly. He felt this clock was ticking,” she noted.

Besides, the former flame of the ‘Fools Rush In’ star addressed his untidy looks before his death.
She told the publication, “He’s normally very clean and well manicured. That’s how I knew him.”
She continued, “He even had a full face wash routine. But then I started looking at pictures and it was clear that he had started declining, which I can guess was that he was probably battling, being sober, and not being sober.”
“He just didn’t care anymore, he just gave up,” Edwards asserted.

“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss,” they mentioned.
Their statement also noted, “In time we will say more, as and when we are able,” before adding, “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”
The comedy series co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane, and executive producer Kevin Bright also said at the time, “We are shocked and deeply, deeply saddened by our beloved friend Matthew’s passing. It still seems impossible. All we can say is that we feel blessed to have had him as part of our lives. He was a brilliant talent.”
