NEVEDA, LAS VEGAS: Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, recognized for his bold persona, sparked controversy with a tribute to OJ Simpson following the latter's passing on Wednesday night, April 10th.

At 76 years old, Simpson passed away at his home in Las Vegas after a brief struggle with prostate cancer.

What did Antonio Brown say about OJ Simpson?

On Thursday morning, April 11, Brown utilized his X account to share a picture depicting Simpson's notorious car chase in 1994. The image captures Simpson in his white Ford Bronco, trailed by multiple police cars on the freeway, as per Daily Mail.

"N-word of the day...RIP to the legend OJ," Brown wrote with a praying hands emoji.

Simpson evaded the LAPD alongside Al Cowlings, a former college and NFL teammate, after he failed to surrender himself. Declaring himself a fugitive, Simpson managed to make contact with authorities several hours later by dialing 911 from his car.

In Orange County, California, Simpson was pursued by the LAPD on the 5 Freeway. The chase commenced around six o'clock PT.

Over 95 million viewers tuned in to watch the slow-speed pursuit in Southern California on television nationwide. Ninety minutes later, Simpson was apprehended by the LAPD at his Brentwood residence.

Besides Brown, Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley II also paid tribute to Simpson on Thursday. He wrote, "RIP To The Legendary OJ Simpson your favorite RB favorite RB." adding, "Appreciate you Uncle O/Juice you’ll be missed thanks for the past year being on It Is What It Is!! Heisman, #1 pick, NFL MVP & the first ever 2000 yard rusher let alone to do it in 14games the list goes on & on!"

Simpson had a distinguished NFL career spanning 11 seasons, playing for both the 49ers and the Buffalo Bills. Notable highlights included winning the MVP award in 1972, earning five First-Team All-Pro selections, and making five Pro Bowl appearances.

However, before his passing, Simpson disclosed that the cancer had reached an advanced stage.
