LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Social media exploded with support for Kanye West after news broke that he was being investigated for allegedly confronting a man who had reportedly grabbed his wife, Bianca Censori. Many argued that West was justified in defending his partner.

Despite the backing West received, he and Censori faced heavy scrutiny recently when they were seen taking a stroll at Disneyland in California. However, what got people talking online was Censori's decision to walk around barefoot.

Kanye West named suspect for allegedly punching a man

According to TMZ, West is now a suspect in a battery case in Los Angeles. Allegedly, he punched a man who grabbed his wife, Censori, during an incident on Tuesday. Both West and Censori left the scene after the altercation, as per police sources cited by TMZ.

Law enforcement is looking into the matter and intends to speak with West and his wife. A representative for the rapper claimed that the man West supposedly punched had "physically assaulted" Censori.

Detailing the alleged encounter, the representative stated to TMZ, “The assailant didn’t merely collide into her. He put his hands under her dress, directly on her body, he grabbed her waist, he spun her around, and then he blew her kisses. She was battered and sexually assaulted.”

The purported incident occurred at the iconic Chateau Marmont Hotel on Sunset Boulevard, as reported by Fox 11.

This isn't the first time West has faced battery allegations. In January 2022, he was sued for assault, battery, and negligence after allegedly punching an autograph seeker named Justin Poplawski, according to the New York Post.

Internet users assert Kanye West should be allowed to defend his wife

Facebook users defended West, with one writing, "No matter what way I'm dressed.. if a man tries to grab at me .. my husband will defend me... He isn't wrong.. the man trying to grab at her is..!! It's called self defense..."

Another user wrote, "Not a Kayne fan, but a man should be allowed to defend his wife."

A user commented, "If this is true this is probably one of the least unhinged things Kanye has done in recent years tbh."

Another user commented, "If the guy actually grabbed or pushed Bianca then sounds like he had it coming."

A user stated, "Sounds like self defense to me."
