What are the latest charges against Alec Baldwin?

According to court documents, Baldwin's legal team stated that Kari Morrissey perceives him as "arrogant" and aims to provide him with a "teachable moment."

On January 19, Baldwin was formally indicted on two counts: "involuntary manslaughter, negligent use of a firearm," or "involuntary manslaughter without due caution or circumspection."

The trial is scheduled to commence in July, with jury selection set to begin on July 9, according to New Mexico Courts.

According to court documents, on October 5, 2023, Baldwin received a plea offer from special prosecutors to ensure "that similarly situated defendants [sic] do not receive disparate treatment."

The actor known for his role in 'Cat in the Hat' was granted until October 27 to accept the same deal offered to assistant director Dave Halls, which included probation without any prison time.

However, according to the actor's legal team, the offer was withdrawn before the written deadline, reports FoxNews.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins tragically lost her life on the set of 'Rust' on October 21, 2021, following a discharge from a firearm that Alec Baldwin was handling.

In response to Baldwin’s recent filing, prosecutor Morrissey defended the withdrawal of the plea deal, citing "the reasons outlined in our response to his motion to dismiss," she stated.

Baldwin's legal team asserted that the prosecution also alleged that the actor was involved in commissioning a documentary about the ‘Rust’ tragedy.

"Morrissey says she withdrew the offer because she believes Baldwin had 'commissioned his own documentary' about Hutchins' death and sought to interview witnesses for the purported film," the court documents state.

Presently, two documentaries are being made on the on-set tragedy. Rachel Mason is working on the first one, with the ‘full support’ from production and Hitchins’ husband; and Rory Kennedy, the sister of presidential hopeful Robert F Kennedy Jr, creates the second documentary.

Baldwin's legal team strongly maintained that the 66-year-old did not commission the documentary in question and does not hold any financial stake in it.
