LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A new billionaire friendship might be brewing as Jeff Bezos said he "loves the idea" of becoming the friend of fellow billionaire and richest man of the year, Elon Musk.

During an interview with podcaster Lex Fridman, the Amazon founder opened up about his desire to forge a bond with the Tesla CEO despite being harshly criticized by Musk in the past.

Jeff Bezos feels he and Elon Musk are 'like-minded'

As the podcast host asked Bezos to share his views on Musk, Bezos candidly said, "Well, I don’t really know Elon very well," as per the New York Post.

He went on to voice, "I know his public persona but I also know you can’t know anyone by their public persona — it’s impossible. You may think you do, but I guarantee you don’t."

Moreover, Bezos was not shy of praising Musk’s capabilities in guiding his ventures including Tesla and SpaceX.

Referring to SpaceX, which is the chief competitor of Bezos’ aerospace company Blue Origin, Bezos said, "Judging by the results, he must be a very capable leader. There’s no way you can have Tesla and SpaceX without being a capable leader. It’s impossible."

After Fridman suggested to him that they should spend some time together and embark on a "friendship that would inspire the entirety of humanity," the Amazon founder replied in assertion, saying, "I agree with you and I think with a lot of these endeavors we’re very like-minded."

He not only supported the idea, but also added, "So I think, I’m not saying we’re identical, but we’re very like-minded so I love that idea."

One said, "Good that means he won’t cancel Twitter like he did Parler."

Another noted, "Musk was really mean to Gates, who tried to befriend him, after he found out that Gates had at one time or another shorted Tesla stock. Gates even apologized for it. Lol. Musk didn't want his friendship. He's not going to be friends with Bezos, as cool as that bromance would be."

Someone else quipped, "@elonmusk spends time trying to save the world. @JeffBezos parties on yachts. Yeah, totally like-minded."

"How are they not already friends??" inquired a person, with one more adding, "Elon has always been willing to be friends. It's been Jeff who needed to come around."

A user expressed, "Jeff you will be a hero if you team up with Elon to destroy Wokeness and people that want to destroy the West. Think about it you will be the target of bad people but you will help save the most fair and successful civilization that ever existed."

"I would love to see Bezos getting into the right side of the story and help Elon destroy wokeness," stated another netizen.

A person compared them, writing, "Ebook Nerd and a Rocket Scientist. 👀🍿," while one dubbed them, "Billionaire Broskis."

"Yes, they’re both billionaires so they can complain to each other about billionaire problems," joked someone else.

What is the Parler controversy surrounding Jeff Bezos?

Parler was an American alt-tech social networking service app, especially favored by the conservatives. Moreover, followers of Donald Trump made up a huge section of the user base of the app.

The Capitol insurrection following the 2020 presidential election is said to have been the root cause of the shutting down of the Parler app. Bezos found himself embroiled in the controversy as the subsidiary of Amazon, Amazon Web Services provided cloud services to Parler.

Following the January 6 event, a section of Amazon's corporate employees campaigned calling for the suspension of the cloud services to Parler.

The employee advocacy group 'Amazon Employees for Climate Justice' said that Amazon Web Services should "deny Parler services until it removes posts inciting violence, including at the Presidential inauguration," as per CNBC.

Later, Amazon agreed to the call and said that they would not provide cloud service to the site, meaning they were left without a website, leading to Parler going offline on January 10, 2021.

Even though the app was back for a few months, it went offline again in April of this year.
