Max Winkler carved out own identity outside of father’s legendary persona

While fans see Henry in his son, Max has carved out his own identity and career outside of his father’s legendary television persona.

Max, 41, is a successful writer and film director. He married British actress Jessica Barden, and together, the couple shares a 2-year-old daughter named Francis.

Their family is set to grow even larger, as Barden recently announced she was pregnant with their second child during an appearance on the 'Got Milf?' podcast.

Despite the public’s fascination with Max’s resemblance to his father, Max has offered insights into his upbringing that might surprise many.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he dispelled any myths about growing up with The Fonz as a father, describing Henry as a "nice, nerdy guy" rather than the cool, tough guy the public adored on TV.

"I feel like people think I rode to school with him on a motorcycle. But he’s really a very unintimidating man," Max joked.

Their father-son relationship, however, goes far beyond physical appearances and fame. In another interview, Max revealed that his dad is one of his "best buddies."

This bond has translated into professional support, with Henry proudly recounting how Max declared his ambitions at a young age.

"My son Max told us at 10 that he wanted to be a director. He kept his word," Henry shared on 'The Talk' in 2023.
