LANSING, MICHIGAN: Robert F Kennedy Jr’s request to take out his name from the state’s November presidential ballot was rejected by a Michigan judge.

The independent candidate dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, and after his notice of withdrawal was rejected, Kennedy tried to sue Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

Why did the judge reject Robert F Kennedy Jr's withdrawal from presidential election?

Robert F Kennedy Jr, in his case, argued that his notice of withdrawal was timely and the electorate's votes could be "diminished and rendered invalid" if he remained on the ballot.

However, Judge Christopher P Yates on Tuesday, September 3, held Benson's decision and rejected Kennedy's attempt to withdraw, per Newsweek.

"Elections are not just games, and the Secretary of State is not obligated to honor the whims of candidates for public office," Yates ruled.

Previously, Benson reminded of Michigan law and stated “MCL 168.686a(4): Candidates who are nominated and accept a minor party's nomination 'shall not be permitted to withdraw.'"

Kennedy also lost his appeal of withdrawal in other states, including Wisconsin.

The former Democrat bowed out of the November race and instead endorsed Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Internet trolls Robert F Kennedy Jr after judge rejects withdrawal request

Netizens had a good laugh at the judge's call to keep Robert F Kennedy Jr's name on the ballot.

One person shared their thoughts on judgment on X (formerly Twitter), "Trump supporters should vote for RFK Jr. in protest."

"To all tin foil hat MAGA's out there, hearing from many people that RFK, Jr. is in cahoots with Harris/Walz team and this whole deal has been one huge 'deep state' deal to get your boy Donold," another speculated.

A user poked fun at Kennedy, "Fought to get on the ballot now begging and suing to get off it MAGATs are truly something to behold."

"Unless you live in Maine or Colorado and then elections apparently are games and the Secretary of State can remove someone from the ballot on a whim," one suggested.

Another joked, "Republicans were too late trying to get Kanye onto ballots in 2020 to hurt Biden and too late to get RFK off the ballot to hurt Biden. Sounds like an organizational problem."

"I’m glad he made a quick ruling. Now there’s time for an appeal," one shared, while another chimed in, "Biden isn’t on the ballot he received 14 million more votes than Kamala."
