NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: During the May 21 episode of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', host Jimmy Kimmel took a humorous jab of 'The Apprentice', a new movie about Donald Trump’s early life which has not been well-received by Trump and his team, saying that Trump’s opinion might shift if the film receives an Oscar nomination

Kimmel took a diss at Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign’s chief spokesman, for his critical statement—or rather, review—who even threatened to sue the filmmakers.

The film, directed by Ali Abbasi features Sebastian Stan as the young Trump during his early days as a New York City real estate developer

Reportedly the statement from Cheung read, “This ‘film’ is pure malicious defamation, should not see the light of day, and doesn’t even deserve a place in the straight-to-DVD section of a bargain bin at a soon-to-be-closed discount movie store, it belongs in a dumpster fire."

“But if it gets nominated for an Oscar, he’ll start saying he wrote it,” Kimmel joked.

The late-night host found it particularly amusing that billionaire Dan Snyder, a friend of Trump, was brought on as an investor for the film under the mistaken belief that it would portray Trump in a positive light.

“He’s Slow and Furious, as the movies go,” Kimmel further said.

What is premise of 'The Apprentice'?

The movie 'The Apprentice' appears to be a biographical drama that delves into the life of Donald Trump, focusing on his life as a real estate businessman in New York in the 1970s and 80s and his persronal relationships.

Specifically, the film explores his marriage to his first wife, Ivana Trump, and his association with the influential lawyer and fixer Roy Cohn, portrayed by actor Jeremy Strong, known for his role in the HBO series 'Succession'.

However, The Trump campaign has announced plans to sue the filmmakers, dismissing the film as "pure fiction."

“We will be filing a lawsuit to address the blatantly false assertions from these pretend filmmakers,” stated Steven Cheung, the campaign’s chief spokesperson, in a message to Variety.

“This garbage is pure fiction which sensationalizes lies that have been long debunked. As with the illegal Biden Trials, this is election interference by Hollywood elites, who know that President Trump will retake the White House and beat their candidate of choice because nothing they have done has worked.

Reportedly, The biopic contains several unflattering scenes about Trump, featuring him using drugs and getting cosmetic surgery.
