WASHINGTON, DC: Hillary Clinton has openly acknowledged concerns surrounding President Joe Biden's age as she labeled it a "legitimate" campaign issue.

Hillary Clinton says age is also an issue for Donald Trump

Speaking to MSNBC, Clinton addressed the issue of the age of the two frontrunner candidates running for President.

"I talked to people in the White House all the time, and you know, they know it’s an issue, but as I like to say, ‘look, it’s a legitimate issue,’” said Clinton.

"It’s a legitimate issue" for former President Donald Trump "who’s only three years younger, right? So it’s an issue," she added.

During an interview on Wednesday, February 7, the former Democrat presidential nominee emphasized that while Biden and Trump may find it hard to connect with young voters, Biden must work on emphasizing his extensive experience as a leader.

"I think Biden also should lean into the fact that he’s experienced and that experience is not just in the political arena,” said Clinton.

"It’s like, the stuff of, you know, human experience, character, wisdom. I think he should be willing to really pull that out … and I think he should kid more about it," she added.

Joe Biden lashed out at a press meet as he argued 'his memory is fine'

On Thursday, February 8, special counsel Robert Hur released a report assessing the president as too senile to face prosecution for his wrongful retention and mishandling of classified documents.

The blistering report said that Biden "did not remember when he was vice president" and "did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died" over two days of interviews as part of the investigation in October 2023.

However, the president hit back at the report's description of his mental acuity as he insisted, "My memory is fine!” and “I know what the hell I’m doing!"

Despite these concerns, Clinton pledged her support for Biden's reelection bid.

"I’m for Joe Biden for reelection on the merits because I think he’s done a really good job as president," she said.

"So, I think he should continue to get out and campaign. He’s been campaigning pretty vigorously across the country," Clinton added.

Internet blasts Hillary Clinton as she labels Joe Biden's age a legitimate issue

Following Clinton's opinion on Biden's age being an issue for the campaign, netizens rallied to react to the former First Lady's comments.

"Ohhh suddenly a change of opinion. She must have something in the works," a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), and another user wrote, "She’s still angling to be President. Not going to happen!"

"You know it’s a problem when Hilary of all people is even admitting it," one user opined and another tweeted, "Democrats want Joe Biden to drop from the race. They know he is doing a bad job."
