WASHINGTON, DC: Speculation is growing about whether Hillary Clinton will run for president in 2028 after she announced dates for a speaking event in December.

Both Hillary and Bill Clinton are scheduled to speak at an event marking the 20th anniversary of the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Hillary Clinton will reflect on 'noble and important work of public service' in upcoming event

The event, scheduled for December 7, 2024, will include reflections from the Clintons on their political and philanthropic work, prompted online chatter about Hillary Clinton's potential future ambitions.

They will deliver remarks at the Clinton Presidential Center, which includes the William J Clinton Presidential Library and Museum.

According to a press release, the event will reflect on their "noble and important work of public service – from securing peace, prosperity, and progress during the Clinton administration to uplifting millions of people through the work of the Clinton Foundation."

In addition to the couple’s political achievements, the event will also highlight their ongoing efforts to empower new leaders.

"The conversation will serve as a clarion call for the future that guides the ongoing work of the Clinton Center: we all share the responsibility to act, and we all do better when we work together," the release added.

Debate around Hillary Clinton's possible 2028 rerun

Following the event announcement, Jason Miller, a senior advisor to Donald Trump, sparked debate by posting on X (formerly Twitter), “SHE'S RUNNING!” with a link to a story about the event.

His post ignited discussions, with users expressing both concern and enthusiasm about a potential Clinton candidacy in 2028, noted Daily Mail.

One X user replied, "She deserves to be in prison. Not the Oval Office." Another user responded with, “Please… PLEASE run.”

Some reactions were more humorous. "If true, then the only reason would be because Trump can’t run in 2028," joked one user.

Another commented, "LOL, she waited for Trump to not be able to run again. The thought of her campaigning again is comical!"

Netizens roast Hillary Clinton's possible candidacy

Social media buzz continued, with some speculating that Hillary Clinton might see 2028 as a strategic opportunity.

One user suggested, "Maybe that’s her best chance to stay out of jail?"

Another post sarcastically celebrated the idea, writing, "Yassss! Who wouldn’t want an 81-year-old grandmother running for POTUS! Dream come true!"

Reservations are required for the December 7 event, which is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, according to the press release.
