Hunter Biden says he's homeless and millions in debt after LA fires, but his $3M house appears unscathed

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Hunter Biden just can’t catch a break.
The 55-year-old son of former president Joe Biden is now without a home after devastating fires tore through his Pacific Palisades rental property, leaving it completely "unlivable."
In newly filed court documents, Hunter revealed that the California fires in January left him scrambling for a "permanent place" to stay, and things aren’t looking great.

According to The Daily Beast, the embattled former first son admitted in the filing that his financial situation has taken a major nosedive since late 2023.
“This significant decrease in revenue has also impacted my ability to pay off my significant debt, which as has been reported in the press as being several million dollars,” he confessed. “As a result of this, I am not in a position where I can borrow money,” he added.
Hunter Biden's cash flow has dried up
Hunter Biden—who once raked in money through his controversial art sales and his 2021 memoir 'Beautiful Things'—is now seeing those revenue streams dry up fast. Before December 2023, he managed to sell 27 paintings at an average price of $54,481.48 each—not bad for someone who took up painting later in life.
But since then, he’s only managed to sell one piece for $36,000.
His book sales aren’t faring any better. Hunter sold 3,161 copies of his memoir in the six months leading up to September 2023. But in the following six months, that number plummeted to just 1,100 books.
The drop in income has been an unpleasant shock for Hunter, who had expected to cash in on his newfound reputation. “Given the positive feedback and reviews of my artwork and memoir, I was expecting to obtain paid speaking engagements and paid appearances, but that has not happened,” he lamented in the filing.
Hunter Biden pulls the plug on lawsuit against Trump aide
Hunter Biden, while revealing his financial setbacks and struggle to find stable housing, made another big move this week—he asked a federal judge to dismiss his lawsuit against Garrett Ziegler, a former aide to Trump advisor Peter Navarro.
Hunter originally sued Ziegler in 2023, accusing him of illegally “accessing, tampering with, manipulating, altering, copying and damaging computer data that they do not own” in violation of California’s computer fraud laws. The case was all about Hunter’s infamous laptop, which was discovered at a Delaware repair shop in 2020.
But despite insisting that Ziegler had publicly admitted to hacking his iCloud, Hunter says he simply can’t afford to keep fighting.
“While I believe in the merits of this case, and indeed, note that Defendant Garrett Ziegler admitted to hacking my iCloud in multiple public statements, I am requesting to dismiss this action because I do not have the financial resources to continue litigating this case,” he stated in his declaration.

But Ziegler has been dismissive of the lawsuit from the start, calling it “frivolous.” His nonprofit, Marco Polo, made it a personal mission to expose Hunter’s emails, text messages, and private photos. “In the Western world, I’m confident that nobody has dug into the American first family more than us,” Ziegler boasted in a 2023 YouTube interview.
Hunter Biden's Pacific Palisades home appears untouched by wildfires

Despite Hunter Biden's claim that the $3 million rental home he was staying in is now "unlivable" after the California wildfires, the house reportedly appears untouched, even though all the homes around it were destroyed, per the New York Post.
Hunter had been living in the four-bedroom Malibu property with his wife, Melissa, and their son, Beau, when the Palisades Fire hit their neighborhood in January, sources confirmed to the Post.
Current photos reportedly show the house still standing, while the rest of the neighborhood was completely burned down. However, it's unclear if the home suffered any hidden damage, like from the heat or smoke from the nearby fires.
Hunter Biden’s turbulent past
While Hunter Biden may be without a permanent residence in California, at least one Biden still has ties to the West Coast—his daughter Naomi Biden is now living in Los Angeles. Naomi, 30, is the oldest of Hunter’s five children.
It’s been a turbulent few years for Hunter. In a historic first, he became the only child of a sitting president to be convicted of a federal crime. His legal troubles stemmed from federal gun charges and felony tax charges, for which he was expected to serve time. However, he was pardoned by his father just a month before the president left office.
Joe Biden has been adamant that his son was unfairly targeted. The then-president declared his son had been “singled out” and that the case was a “miscarriage of justice.”
Hunter, for his part, has never shied away from his wild past. He’s admitted to heavy drinking as a teen, cocaine addiction, and multiple stints in rehab. In 'Beautiful Things', he also confessed that his 24-year marriage ultimately ended due to infidelity.
