LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: First Son Hunter Biden sought assistance from the US Embassy in Rome to secure a lucrative business deal for a Ukrainian energy company while his father, Joe Biden, was serving as the Vice President of the United States, a report revealed.

The request made by Hunter, who was a board member of Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company, was revealed after State Department records were released to The New York Times following President Joe Biden's exit from his 2024 reelection campaign last month.

“I want to be careful about promising too much,” a Commerce Department official at the US Embassy in Italy wrote in response to Hunter's 2016 letter, which wasn’t released.

The official expressed concern about the request, noting the various protocols that prevent the US government from lobbying on behalf of foreign corporations.

“This is a Ukrainian company and, purely to protect ourselves, [the US government] should not be actively advocating with the government of Italy without the company going through the [Department of Commerce] Advocacy Center,” the official wrote.

What do the latest reports implicate Hunter Biden with?

The disclosure further strengthens the evidence linking Hunter Biden to potential violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) concerning his work for Burisma and other business entities, according to the New Year Post.

Special Counsel David Weiss presented evidence of alleged FARA violations involving Hunter Biden in a court filing related to his California felony tax fraud case last week.

Weiss' filing revealed that Hunter and his associates were reportedly hired by a convicted Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu “to attempt to influence US government agencies to investigate the Romanian criminal investigation of [Popoviciu], and thereby cause an end to the investigation.”

Nevertheless, the special counsel clarified that despite the evidence of Hunter violating FARA laws, “[t]he introduction of that evidence … does not mean that the government will also reference allegations that the defendant violated FARA and that contacts with government officials were improper; such allegations are not relevant to the charges in this tax case.”

Hunter's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, acknowledged that his client “asked various people” to arrange an introduction between Burisma executives and Enrico Rossi, the President of the Tuscany region of Italy, and claimed it was a “proper request.”

Emails from Hunter's abandoned laptop indicated that Burisma was attempting to obtain regulatory approval for a geothermal energy project in Tuscany at the time.

“No meeting occurred, no project materialized, no request for anything in the US was ever sought and only an introduction in Italy was requested,” Lowell informed the aforementioned outlet.

A spokesperson for the White House stated that President Joe Biden was unaware of his son's efforts to seek help for Burisma from the embassy during his vice presidency.

It appears that Hunter may have reached out to several US officials in his attempt to secure a meeting with Rossi.

“The Ambassador already replied to one letter from Mr Biden,” the same Commerce Department official wrote in an email to other US officials. “He may be shopping for more support than he got here.”

The aforementioned outlet obtained the documents from the State Department by suing the agency for failing to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request made in June 2021 and received them last month, coinciding with President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the race.

A State Department spokeswoman stated that the timing of the document release was coincidental.

First Son Hunter Biden's trial in Los Angeles, where he faces nine charges related to tax crimes, including three felonies, is scheduled to commence on September 5th.
