LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Charlamagne tha God made it clear that he won't be throwing his explicit support behind any presidential candidate in the upcoming election, despite his outspoken criticisms of Donald Trump.

During a recent appearance on 'The View,' he faced questioning from the hosts about his decision not to endorse a specific candidate, particularly Joe Biden.

Charlamagne stands firm: politics, principles, and pushback on 'The View'

While promoting his new book, "Get Honest or Die Lying: Why Small Talk Sucks," Charlamagne engaged in a discussion about politics with the show's hosts.

Sunny Hostin challenged his choice not to endorse anyone, arguing that it's crucial not to abstain from such a pivotal decision.

Charlamagne defended his stance, emphasizing that he will indeed cast his vote in November, but his decision will be based on broader issues rather than the individual candidates.

He pointed out that his previous public statements already make his preference evident, especially regarding someone he considers a threat to democracy.

"If I’m sitting here telling my listeners that, you know, you have somebody out there who is a threat to democracy, you have somebody out there who said they want to suspend the constitution and overthrow the results of an election, you saw this person try to lead an attempted coup of this country," he said. "And I’m telling people that this guy’s a threat to democracy — have you ever read ‘Project 25’? There’s only two candidates out there. So, if I’m saying that about this individual, the choice is clear, right?"

The conversation took an interesting turn when Charlamagne called out the hosts for their tendency to pressure guests into endorsing political figures, citing an incident involving rapper Killer Mike. He questioned the necessity for such endorsements, especially if the guests don't feel comfortable making them.

"And I’ve seen y’all do this on ‘The View’ before. I saw y’all do this to Killer Mike when he was on ‘The View'," he said. "And Killer Mike literally sat here and said ‘Hey, I supported Keisha Lance Bottoms. I supported Raph Warnock. I supported Jon Ossoff, right? In Georgia. He said ‘You should support the person who the people I’ve supported are supporting.’"

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg intervened, suggesting that while they might not need Charlamagne's endorsement personally, other viewers might benefit from hearing it. She highlighted the challenge of disseminating accurate information through the media.

"No, no, it’s not that we need you to say it, but I think other folks need to hear," she said. "Because … one of the things that we’ve been talking about is the fact that getting facts out through the media has been — seems to be very difficult."

Charlamagne's resolve in face of pressure

When Charlamagne responded by saying he "spewed some facts" just moments earlier, Whoopi smiled and replied "Yes, but we need you to do it on your show." Still, Charlamagne was steadfast in his decision.

"If I think both candidates are trash, and I don’t feel like endorsing one, would you rather me endorse an individual, or endorse the fact that, hey, we need to go out here and protect democracy?" he said.

Despite the spirited discussion, the interview concluded on a friendly note, with Whoopi even jokingly threatening to "beat [his] behind" when he brought up the existence of third-party candidates.
