'I am in love with my best friend': Gwen Stefani candidly addresses marriage rumors with Blake Shelton
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Gwen Stefani has spoken out for the first time regarding rumors of a separation from her husband Blake Shelton.
During an interview with NYLON, the 'Rock Steady' singer confessed that she occasionally feels vulnerable within her marriage. This sentiment inspired her to co-write a duet with Shelton titled 'Purple Irises.'
“In my own relationship, even though I know the truth of what’s happening today, you still create drama in your own mind about your insecurities and what might happen. I was in that phase of the relationship with Blake and getting paranoid,” said Stefani.
Gwen Stefani admits she tends to 'overthink'
The 54-year-old admitted to frequently "overthinking." She expressed, “The truth is I am in love with my best friend. And all this s**t I’m thinking of in my brain, that’s all it is — I’m overthinking.”
“But when you’re in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us,” Stefani said.
The ‘Spiderwebs’ crooner added, “You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship — I mean, a week ago we were getting divorced again or something. It’s just lies. The truth is the truth, and we know what that is.”
Stefani and Shelton first crossed paths in 2014 and exchanged vows in 2021. At the time, they were both serving as coaches on the NBC singing reality show 'The Voice.'
How many kids does Gwen Stefani have?
Stefani was previously married to Gavin Rossdale, the frontman of Bush, and together they have three sons: Kingston, aged 17, Zuma, aged 15, and Apollo, aged 10. They ended their marriage in 2016.
Meanwhile, Shelton, who wed Miranda Lambert in 2011, finalized their divorce in 2015.
Reflecting on her past marriage, Stefani revealed, "When that happened, I had to essentially begin anew. It was a complete reset of my life."
She told People earlier, “When I [started dating] Blake, that’s when I felt home, like, ‘Oh, this is where I’m supposed to be, with this guy.’”
“[I] didn’t see [Shelton] coming. This was just a big old ‘What?’ It was an amazing gift to experience love like that for the first time.”
