'I appreciate the hustle': Usher reveals son Naviyd stole his phone to connect with PinkPantheress
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Usher took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, April 24, to share how his son, Naviyd Eli Raymond, apparently "stole" his phone to connect with his "favorite artist" PinkPantheress.
The 45-year-old singer shared screenshots of the messages shared between the 15-year-old and the English singer through his account, as per Complex.
Usher narrates how he found out that his son Naviyd 'stole' his phone to DM PinkPantheress
Usher began the "quick story time" by writing, "So, a week or so ago my son, Naviyd, stole my phone so he could dm his favorite artist @pinkpantheress."
Subsequently, he posted a screenshot of their exchange that read, "Hello this is Usher's son Naviyd I'm you [sic] true biggest fan. Please follow me back 😞😞🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 @_naviyd_ I put him on to masterpieces🫡."
The 'Hey Daddy' singer continued, "Now I just so happened to check my DMs earlier this past week and saw a message exchange from someone with a Powerpuff girl as their profile pic. So I’m like the hell is this," adding, "I open it and I’m like oh this boy done DMd this girl from my damn phone."
PinkPantheress invited Usher and his son to her show
In a subsequent Instagram Story, Usher noted that he did apologize to the 23-year-old singer on his son’s behalf. PinkPantheress didn't seem to take offense as she replied, "Happy to have this interaction. I’d love to host y’all at the next show."
The 'Good Good' singer thought he "had to act like he wasn't allowed to go," but mentioned that he decided to let him go as he is "such a fan of her artistry."

Usher texted PinkPantheress about Naviyd being present at her show, writing, "My son is at you [sic] show tonight. I had to send him considering his level of dedication and creativity…to figure out getting your attention through stealing my phone…that’s commitment. Hopefully you guys get to link."
Usher titled the concluding Instagram Story, "Parental Takeaway", and noted, "This was a great moment for Naviyd … this was him movin on something he was passionate about. Yes... he violated my trust in the process and for that I will never trust him around my phone, but I should have known better."
"Nonetheless, I appreciate the hustle and him makin it happen. From a text, to a concert, to the artist. He masterminded this whole thing and made it happen. #HustleHard," added the singer.
