'I don't regret it': Paris Hilton’s ex-fiance Chris Zylka reflects on their relationship and 2018 break-up

LOS ANEGLES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Zylka is not content to live in the background, bringing up an old love affair in the spotlight again. The 'Shark Night' actor got engaged to Paris Hilton in December 2017. But, they split up just ten months later.

He shared on the Dec. 6 episode of Ned's Declassified Podcast Survival Guide, "Acting wasn't a choice for me during that time. which I completely understood, because of just things she had been through in her life and in her personal life."

But Zylka also understood that in order to feel content, he had to try his luck in Hollywood.

He explained that acting was the "one thing that I actually couldn't live without." He added, "It was a huge wakeup call that performance art is super important to me and the camaraderie and the family that you grow on each and every set."

Zylka had to put his career on hold due to Paris Hilton romance

Zylka had to put his career on hold for around two years during their romance, but he felt like he was at the top of his game coming into the last season of HBO's 'The Leftovers'.

"Obviously, I chose her over work [at the time]," he said, "and I don't regret it."

Furthermore, the 38-year-old and Hilton are still on good terms. Hilton married Carter Reum in 2021, and the two welcomed a newborn named London and a 10-month-old kid named Phoenix.

Zylka holds himself completely responsible for everything that went wrong.

Zylka shared, "I've never been able to apologize to her for not being grateful for the experience and all the she did for me."

Zylka added, "Because she's the one relationship that I've ever had that there was no take. It was all give. It was really lovely."

Zylka claimed to have signed an NDA following their breakup, but he added that he "there was really never anything negative" that he would say about his former partner.

Zylka called Hilton "a wonderful human being" who is "just full of love," adding that observing her happiness with her new family and successful job "warms my heart more than anything."

Hilton stated that calling it quits on their engagement was "the best decision I've ever made" when she spoke to Cosmopolitan U.K. in 2020.

"I just don't think [he] was the right person and I feel like I'm an incredible woman and I deserve someone so amazing.  It just didn't feel right. I've worked way too hard to just give my life to someone. They have to be perfect."
